Winter Walking Day | 30 December 2023
Like last year, we will again start from hall Witte Burg in Oostduinkerke.
Practical: registration and departure from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Witte Burg hall, Witte Burg 92 Oostduinkerke.
Participation fee: €2
A free bus service to and from Koksijde station is provided.
The shortest walk is 6 km. A lovely, quiet walk through the villa districts of Oostduinkerke. A short stroll along a stretch of Doornpanne, a nice paved dune path and the Zeedijk are also on the menu. Do you follow the alternative (dotted line) of 500m extra? Then wheelchair users can also complete this walk.
On the 10 km route, you discover the Doornpanne, the British military cemetery, a piece of the North Dunes and look out over the fields between Koksijde and Veurne.
On the 16 km course, we discover the Doornpanne, and especially the most beautiful stretch of beach without high-rise buildings. Via a dune path and the Oostduinkerke seawall, we bump into 'Weerstandsnest Waldersee', remnants of the Atlantic Wall, via the Zeebermduinen. We also discover a lesser-known part in the Hannecart forest. A vicious climb at the end makes for a spectacular finish.
Ditto for the 20 km, but after the Hannecartbos, we enter the walking path around Golf Ter Hille via the Oostvoorduinen.
For the seasoned walkers in the end, we have a tough 29-km trail. There, we discover everything from the 20 km course + the British military cemetery, and you get an extra treat with the Noordduinen, Houtsaegerduinen and the Zeedijk van Sint-Idesbald.
